Laila Khondkar co-authored the research report “Study on Urban Adolescents: Knowledge, Attitude and Practice related to Reproductive & Sexual Health in Bangladesh,” published under the EC/UNFPA Initiative for Reproductive Health in Asia (2002). The study focused on understanding the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of urban adolescents in Bangladesh regarding reproductive and sexual health issues. It contributed to the growing evidence base on adolescent health by examining awareness levels, perceptions, sources of information, and behavioral patterns among young people, with the aim of identifying gaps and informing future reproductive health education and service programs.
The report was an important contribution to adolescent health research in Bangladesh, particularly during a period when reproductive and sexual health discussions among young people were often limited by social and cultural barriers. Through this work, Laila Khondkar contributed to policy-oriented research that supported improved adolescent-friendly health interventions, awareness-building initiatives, and strategies for addressing reproductive health needs among urban youth.
